Strawberries, Butterhead Lettuce, Snap Peas and Buratta
New Spring Produce in the house! Time for first of the season local Strawberries, Native French Breakfast Radishes, and Butterhead Lettuce. The CA Cherries have been outstanding- don't miss those.
This week we're also featuring a few new items: an Organic Ginger Beer made in Itlay by Galvanina- think about those San Pelligrino drinks and now imagine a more upscale version in a beautiful glass bottle. Driving through the harbor, seeing all the boats going in, is making me think of Dark n Stormy's. We've got the ginger beer and limes, you know where to find rum. We have some excellent dried Cranberry beans from Rancho Gordo, the heirloom bean company in California that grows hard-to-find varieties. The beans are so fresh and nice they don't even need soaking- although you can if you want to. Make a shelling bean ragout with these, add some Fava beans towards the end, steam some clams open in these, maybe some Smoking Goose Caraway & Kolsh Bratwurst over the top, and you're good.
Our knife + fork salad this week: Italian Antipasto Salad with Bocconcini & Spicy Green Olives. This is like a charcuterie board in salad format. Or an Italian sub in salad format. Whatever- it's delicious. Fresh marble-sized Lioni Mozzarella, Castelvetrano Olives, sweet n' hot Peppadew Peppers, Sliced Smoking Goose Capicola, baby Icebery, and in keeping with the spirit of the "oil and vinegar" every New Jersey deli of my youth had, we're making a Red Wine & Oregano Vinaigrette.
Folks have been requesting a repeat of our Shrimp & Bok Choi Lo Mein Kit, and I know why- it's so good. And so generous- it makes a lot. And easy- because we've made the sauce for you. Pull out the wok you have collecting dust in the cabinet (or your biggest skillet), and make this your Sunday night into Monday leftovers for lunch plan.
Be sure to check out some additions to our Other People's Provisions section, and see you soon!
